MAFALDA VASQUES

Mafalda Vasques is one of the most authentic and captivating emerging voices in the new generation of Portuguese music. With a warm, deep tone and a rare ability to communicate emotion, her voice reveals remarkable artistic maturity and a depth of expression that transcends genres.

Born in Beja, she began singing at the age of eight with the Carmo Children’s and Youth Choir, where she discovered her natural connection to the art of music. She trained at the Regional Conservatory of Baixo Alentejo, studying Music Theory, Piano, Choir, Vocal Technique, and Portuguese Guitar — foundations that shaped her strong interpretative skills and refined artistic sensibility.

Her voice has graced stages across mainland Portugal, the islands, Cape Verde, Luxembourg, Spain, and Poland. She has won several awards in music competitions and gained recognition at the Grande Noite do Fado de Santa Maria Maior in Lisbon in 2020. In 2023, she reached the finals of The Voice Portugal, where she captivated audiences with her authenticity, intensity, and stage presence.

Mafalda is now preparing to release her debut album, Alentejo Infinito, in which she also appears as a songwriter and composer. This new work marks a turning point — a journey through contemporary sounds rooted in Portuguese identity, where tradition and modernity intertwine naturally. It represents the affirmation of a complete artist who sings what she feels and finds in music her space of truth and emotion.

Ars Luminae proudly represents Mafalda Vasques, recognizing the strength and originality of her voice, the depth of her artistic universe, and the unique way she conveys the Portuguese soul through a modern, poetic, and timeless lens.

Alongside her artistic path, Mafalda also works as a nurse at Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes in Beja — a vocation that, like music, stems from the same impulse to care, feel, and connect with others.
