Flamenc Oh!!
An irreverent tribute to flamenco, never a parody.
The show
A stern patriarch rules a family of flamenco artists with an iron fist. The arrival of a new guitarist, steeped in rock, pop and blues, shakes the clan to its foundations and sets off situations as unexpected as they are funny.
Flamenc Oh!! is Yllana’s newest creation, co-produced with Sadler’s Wells in London. It brings together first-rate flamenco, with live cante, dance and guitar, and the company’s visual comedy. It is not a parody: it is a tribute that respects the tradition while questioning the rigidity around it.
All the music is sung and played live, from traditional palos to versions of “Purple Rain”, “Beautiful”, “Only You”, “Maniac”, “Summertime” and “Moon River”. The audience claps along and sings.
The five performers dance, sing, play and act, with backgrounds in flamenco companies, tablaos and conservatoires. The humour comes from the body and the situations. There is a voice-over, which can be adapted into Portuguese, and songs in Spanish and English, but the story is carried by flamenco and movement.
It premiered in Madrid on 1 July 2026 at the Gran Teatro CaixaBank Príncipe Pío. It went on to the Edinburgh Fringe, where it won a Seoul Arts Award, and then to the Peacock Theatre in London for a Sadler’s Wells season.
