Gifted with a precious voice, at once sweet and powerful, and acclaimed as the “Queen of Morna of the 21st Century”, Solange Cesarovna is a singer and songwriter and one of the most influential figures in contemporary music and in the creative economy of the Portuguese-speaking world. The first Cabo Verdean artist to perform at the Vatican, she unites ancestral heritage with sonic innovation. She is Vice-President of the African Music Academy (AMA) and of the International Council of Music Creators (CIAM), and was the first CLIP Champion of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She received the Exceptional Achievement Prize from Fair Trade Music International (FTMI) and the PPM 2025 PALOP award at Brazil’s Prémio Profissionais da Música, and is on the BANTUMEN Powerlist 100. With Conexão África Brasil, she opens a vibrant new chapter in her career: an album that fuses rhythms from Cabo Verde and other African countries – morna, coladeira and funaná, afrobeat, amapiano, semba and kizomba – with samba, choro, bossa nova, afro reggae and afro-Bahian music, among other Brazilian genres. The album is produced by Pretinho da Serrinha and Marcel Klemm, with collaborations with Carlinhos Brown, Max Viana and Mr. Brown. Pretinho da Serrinha’s virtuosity and deep knowledge of samba and ancestral rhythms blend with Marcel Klemm’s technical precision, sophistication and contemporary arrangements. Taking Cabo Verde as its starting point, it establishes Solange Cesarovna as a true ambassador of transatlantic art.
